it was 10pm, Mia had received a notification from Luna. her heart did a thing when she saw her name popped up. her mind was kind of a mess right now, she thought less and less of June and it was more about Luna now. actually everything was about Luna. anytime she looked up the sky, anytime her eyes landed back on something really pretty, she thought about Luna because how similar they could be or just of how Luna would be happy if she saw it with her.

anyway, back to the message. it was a video. first, you could see Luna lip syncing some lyrics:

Use the sleeves of my sweater

Let's have an adventure

Head in the clouds but my gravity's centered

Touch my neck and I'll touch yours

she couldn't help but find her irresistibly attractive when she did that and oh God, Luna knew what she did to her. these lyrics specifically made her feel something, butterflies filled up her stomach. and second, Luna showed the sunset, the sky was all orange and the moon could be seen as well. it's just that kind of hour where you can see the sun from one side and the moon from the other side.

the caption was: « wouldn't u come meet me like the moon meets the sun? », jeez, what did Luna do to Mia's poor heart? she knew it was her usual spot so she quickly left her apartment. she didn't need to get dressed up as she was already dressed up for the day, she just took an oversized sweater to put on so she wouldn't get cold.

she got there as soon as she could, she was just that excited to see Luna again. she sat next to Luna without startling her this time. this time, she simply took her hand and held it. Luna didn't get startled but she was rather surprised. she just held it tighter instead of rejecting it. the silence wasn't comfortable. actually, each time there had been a silence, it was never awkward, they would either stare at the landscape or at each other without the other looking because in the end, it was the same: seeing pretty things.

« - i think 10pm describes you perfectly — Mia suddenly spoke, breaking the silence — don't you think so?

- well, i don't know what you mean by that so please enlighten me up.

- it's just that kind of time, in a summer night, when you feel the most at ease. you can see both the moon and the sun meeting, having the perfect date. just having that sight makes you feel carefree, it makes you feel like you don't have to care about anything.

- Mia... — Luna didn't even know how to reach so she stuttered — i like that. thank you for giving me that time. you don't know how much it makes me happy. » they both just kept smiling to themselves after that conversation, with both their hand intertwined and just dancing with each other, trying to have the best grasp of it. « make me take a risk. » said Luna while looking into Mia's eyes. she was taken aback by the sudden confession, she was happy though for some reason. she stood and pulled Luna against her: « let's do this, baby. », she said it in a flirty tone, not that she was kidding, which made Luna blush.

they were in a 7-Eleven and they knew this was a bad idea but... it's part of the fun of taking a risk, right? it started with Mia taking a few little snacks from the shelf, she quickly hid them inside her coat. she hugged Luna and gave her a few of her things while continuing to stick to her until they got out. when they did, they just laughed and started laughing. at some point, they stopped running but when they were looking at each other, they'd automatically start laughing. they were the perfect partners in crime. Mia couldn't do this with June, she didn't bear her « immaturity ». she would lecture her for hours, not that she didn't understand how morally bad it was but she was just a dumb teenager taking risks. back to Luna, she took off her glasses as she was wiping her tears from laughing too much. Mia didn't realize how her brown eyes were of a pretty shade of honey until she saw them without glasses. and that damn grin that went with it, it was too much for her. she could've approached her lips against her as she usually did with the others but Luna wasn't the others, « consent first, consent first ». besides she didn't want to destroy this relationship they had, she was scared of her reaction just after that. she sighed in frustration, pretty sure Luna didn't understand what just had happened.

Mia had a lot of coping mechanisms for each thing, one of them was to take a random train that would take her far away when she just felt like she didn't belong to her house where her parents would often argue. this wasn't particularly a moment she didn't feel good at home but she really felt like going far away with all the emotions she felt at the moment. so she suggested to Luna who directly agreed, she was actually excited. they eventually took that train without validating a ticket, they wanted to take risks until the end. it was dumb but they knew they would laugh about it at some point. by this time, it was one of the last trains and it was already dark outside.

Lady, running down to the riptide

Taken away to the dark side

I wanna be your left hand man

I love you when you're singing that song and

I got a lump in my throat 'cause

You're gonna sing the words wrong

Luna sang the lyrics softly and quietly. she looked sad for some reason, maybe were there any memories associated to this song? well, most of the time, Luna looked like she was always close to have a mental breakdown, each time she looked like this, Mia would try to distract her by sending her a message even though she was just in front of her: « can i just fall in love with your pretty voice? », Luna didn't really realize she was singing so she felt shy when she saw the message. she replied back with audacity: « or maybe you could just fall in love with me. », Mia didn't expect that answer so she was the one taken aback. actually she was always taken aback by Luna, she did all of these things she didn't expect and as much as she liked it, she hated it; she hated what it did to her and the fact she knew Luna didn't mean it. or maybe she did but she knew it wasn't meant for her for some reason.

they finally arrived to their destination, not that they actually had one. they walked for half an hour until they reached a forest, it was surrounded with railings. at first, Luna was debating if she really had to climb these. too tired to argue with Mia's will, she admitted to be too defeated. they took a while to climb the railings but with each other's help, they succeeded climbing it. they bursted out laughing when their feet landed on the ground. they started running for no reason, just like if they were getting chased by someone or something. their feet brought them to some plain ground with grass. as expected, they just laid there. there were oddly a lot of stars, they were thrilled and euphoric to this sight.

Lately I been, I been losing sleep

Dreaming about the things that we could be

But baby I been, I been prayin' hard

Said no more counting dollars

We'll be counting stars

Yeah, we'll be counting stars

it was the song that went along with the mood, with the person, with the place, with everything. because at that exact moment, it was Mia, Luna, the music and the stars. nothing else mattered. because that one joyful moment was enough to cover all the sad moments, alone in your room with your sad music. it felt like all their problems faded into those stars. they didn't have to talk to know that they were there for each other which was probably the best thing about their relationship. sunset until sunrise, they were together. the sun has already risen at some point, they had slept for a bit, for what it looked like 3 or 4 hours.

Chapter 4

scared teenagers to fall in love

scared teenagers to fall in love,

scared teenagers to be loved,

scared teenagers of feelings.
